Joan Denise (McDonald) Hoying, “Joanie,” March 9, 1951 – June 22, 2024, she was 73. Art was always in her blood as she appreciated beauty in her surroundings from a young age. 

She graduated from Colonel White High School in Dayton, Ohio. After high school, she continued her education at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, receiving a degree in Art Education. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bob. They married in 1971 and she went on to St. Louis, MO for his job. There she began a career with, Parkway School District, where she worked for over 30 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, the arts, laughing with family/friends, dinners with friends, shopping, order, and most of all enjoying her grandkids. She knew what she wanted out of life and lived it to the fullest. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Heather, son-in-law, John, and her three grandchildren: Christian, Hallie, and Gwendolyn. She is also survived by five siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and parents: Ray McDonald and Miriam McDonald.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio for her and her husband Bob. It is tentatively set for Friday, August 2, 2024. For those wishing to honor her life please have a laugh, enjoy some good food, and share a fond memory.
