Joan L. Hymas

April 30, 1942 — October 29, 2008

Joan L. Hymas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away after a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer on October 29, 2008. Joan was born in Richmond, UT on April 30, 1942 and is survived by her children, Nyla (David) Crosby, Marlynn (Ken) Avery, Darren (Kristie) Hymas, Karma (Benjamin) Schwalger, Eldeen (Judd) Pickett and 19 grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Kay Hyrum Hymas, father, Claytor Melvin Larsen, mother, Violet Johnson Larsen. Joan was very creative and enjoyed painting, sewing, crafts, gardening, playing the piano, camping, snow-mobiling, and traveling with her husband and family. But what brought Joan her greatest joy were her 19 grandchildren. They were her inspiration and she cherished creating memories with each one of them. It was a yearly tradition for Joan to gather her grandchildren together and bake individual ginger-bread houses for each of them to decorate. Joan also taught them many things like how to crochet and was always up for a good game of ""Chicken Feet"", ""10, 000"" or Gin Rummy. Joan was also a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over the years she faithfully served in many callings, including Boy Scout Leader, Temple Worker, Church Organist, Relief Society President, Primary President, and Young Women President. Joan loved serving others and the Lord and was such a wonderful example to all of us. We truly loved her and were incredibly blessed to have her in our lives. How grateful we are for our knowledge that she is once again with her eternal companion, whom she has missed and loved with all her heart, and that we will be with her again someday.
