Joan Lee Malm passed away on 2-4-25 after having lived a long and successful life. She was born in Los Angeles, California but moved with her family before World War II to Denver.
During World War II she lived in the mid-west, mostly in Indiana and Michigan while her father Rudolf supported the war effort. Her mother Marjorie was at home caring for Joan and her two sisters Sharon and the youngest sister Nancy. She is survived by her sister Sharon who lives in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
After the war the family moved back to Denver where Joan spent most of her remaining years.
Joan attended Denver public schools and graduated from Denver East High School in 1953.
During the 1953-54 school year Joan attended Colorado College where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.
After attending college Joan went to work for the Denver Fire Clay Company which later became Van Waters & Rodgers and then Univar Solutions. All of her working years were in Denver. Joan had a career with this company that lasted for over 50 years. She holds a record for having one of the longest continuous employments with the firm.
Joan had many fond memories of her working years. She held many positions and her final position was Administrative Assistant to the Branch Manager. She remembered that being in charge of the new Honeywell computer system was the scariest and most rewarding moment of her work experiences. She loved working for Univar Solutions.
Joan was never married and she lived with her parents until their passing. In her free time she loved following Denver sports, working on crafts and was a talented artist. She was extremely kind and giving, and loved to dote on nieces, nephews and other family members. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her extended family. There are family members in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Utah, Michigan and other states.
Charitable contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
