Joan Elizabeth Pollard Wayne

August 4, 1928 — August 8, 2015

Joan Elizabeth Pollard Wayne, of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away August 8, 2015, just a few days past her 87th birthday. Joan was born August 4, 1928 in the Sandhills of Lakeside, Nebraska to George Dale and Mabel Rita Pickell Pollard. Joan spent many of her early years in the Sandhills, until her father got a better railroad job in Alliance, Nebraska. She received an education at Nebraska University but then returned to Alliance to also work for the railroad. Joan's Aunt took her on a trip that she loved to New York and Cuba (before Castro). She then went to Casper, Wyoming and learned how to be a Oil & Gas Landman. She later moved to New York with two other girlfriends, and the three of them found jobs. After four months in New York, the three friends left and which time Joan moved to Sun Valley, Idaho where she got a job at Sun Valley Ski Area, helping run a little convenience store. Joan later moved to Denver where she met her future husband and worked in her career as an Oil and Gas Landman. Joan was involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as a Chapter Regent, a State Treasurer, a State Auditor, a State Regent and therefore an Honorary State Regent. She was also on the State finance committee for many years until her health became a problem and she could no longer remain actively involved. Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Chris Walter Wayne, and many other family members and friends. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 1:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service that will begin at 2:00pm, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado. A reception with light refreshments will be held following the service for all those in attendance. Please share memories of Joan and condolences with her family by leaving a message in the guestbook.
