Joan Marie Wilkes

Joan Marie Wilkes, 64 of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2019. Joan was born September 8, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Nora Matilda and Clement John Vanderbloemen.

Joan is survived by her husband: Tom Wilkes; children: Jennifer (Matt) Douglas, Jason (Crystal) White, Thomas (Sharon) Wilkes and Zachary Wilkes; grandchildren: Victoria Douglas, Andrew Douglas, Colleen Wilkes, Erin Wilkes and Thomas Wilkes; siblings: Robert Vanderbloemen, Ronald Vanderbloemen and Jean Vanderbloemen.

Joan worked for the City of Aurora Police Department as a Senior Records Technician for many years, where she met the love of her life Tom.

Joan loved traveling, spending time with friends and most of all her family. Joan also enjoyed woodworking, scrapbooking, crocheting, knitting and gardening. At one point, she even taught herself how to craft jewelry and work with stained glass.

Joan is known for her positivity, courageousness and loyalty. Her selfless nature spoke for itself and everyone knew that they count on her for anything. She will truly be missed.

In honor of Joan, a Funeral Mass will be held 10:30AM, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (19099 E Floyd Ave, Aurora, CO 80013). Reception to follow immediately following Mass.
