Joann King

Joann M. King, 81, of Denver, Colorado, went to be with Our Lord on September 17, 2020. She was born March 1, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to Fred J (Ted) and Mary Lilley. She had one brother, Fred Jr (John) Lilley. She married James J. King, February 1, 1964, in Denver, Colorado. Joann attended Colorado Women’s College and worked for United Bank of Denver, Jefferson Bank and Trust, and Aramark Leisure Services. She was a union steward for Coors Field for the food services.  She was a lifetime resident of Denver, Colorado She enjoyed bowling, watching the Denver Broncos and other professional sports teams of Colorado, and visiting Blackhawk / Central City and Cripple Creek. She was an active member of the Democratic Party.  Joann had a great sense of humor! She cherished her family and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her niece.  She was known to say: “You drive just like your father.” and “If you want to live to see tomorrow, I suggest ….”.

She is survived by son, Patrick (Brenda) King of Casper, Wyoming; son, Sean King of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Amy (Steve) Atkinson of Linden, Michigan; Daniel John “DJ” (Katie) Bauer of Flint, Michigan; and Jared Bauer of Linden, Michigan; great-grandchildren Adan Bauer, Michael Bauer, Kameron Atkinson; and niece, Kristine McDowell of Denver, Colorado, great-nieces Aubree Russell, Hailee Russell.  She was preceded in death by husband James “Jim” J. King, daughter Elizabeth Bauer, grandson Travis Marzano King, and brother Fred J (Ted) and sister in law Mary E. Lilley.

Viewing will be held on Thursday October 8, 2020 at 5:30 pm with Holy Rosary following at 7:00 pm, at Horan and McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado. The funeral will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 at 10:00 am, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3141 W. 96th Ave (96th and Federal), Westminster, Colorado. Interment will be at Ft Logan National Cemetery Friday October 9, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Arrangements by Horan and McConaty Funeral Service.  The family thanks the staff at North Suburban Medical Center and Compass Hospice.
