Pat Holt was born on January 5, 1936 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, to Joe & Marian Moffitt. Her given name was Joanne Patricia, but the nickname Patty stuck right away. She spent her early childhood in the Denver area, but when WW2 came along she moved several times throughout the south following her Army Air Corps father. After the war, her family returned to Denver and she remained here for the rest of her life. On August 30, 1953 she married, Kenneth Holt, ""Kenny"", the love of her life. Four children were born to Pat & Ken, Joseph, Jim, Jay & Kathryn. Her husband & children were her world. They were also blessed with eight grandchildren, Joe Jr, Michelle, Cassandra, Melissa, Kristy, Michael, Becky and Samantha. In the early 1970's Pat trained as a Nurse's Aide through Mercy Hospital in Denver. She worked at Mercy for a couple of years then moved to St. Joseph's hospital and worked in the Newborn Nursery for several years. As Nurse's Aides became obsolete, she trained to become a Unit Secretary at St. Joes and spent a few years working on various floors before settling in as a Unit Secretary in the Newborn ICU there. She retired from St. Joseph's Hospital in the mid-1990's. Pat & Ken enjoyed traveling to see their children & grandchildren. Their all-time favorite vacation was a trip to Hawaii. They were able to travel to Europe several times while their son-in-law was stationed in Germany. Their favorite place to be, though, was at the family cabin between Granby & Grand Lake, Colorado, enjoying the beauty of the mountains and fishing on the lakes. Pat was diagnosed with Myleodysplastic Syndrome (MDS-a Bone Marrow Disorder/Disease) in 2004. In October 2009, the MDS progressed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia and she opted for no treatment other than to continue the blood transfusions she had been receiving due to the MDS. Over the course of her illnesses, since 2006, she received over 165 units of Red Cells and over 175 units of platelets. The Leukemia finally took over in October; nearly one year after her diagnosis of AML, and after a short hospital stay and a few days in Hospice, she passed away peacefully early November 3, 2010. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ken. Her parents, Joe & Marian Moffitt, an infant brother, and her sister, Karen Simonson. She is survived by: her children, Joseph (Mary) Holt of Maryland; Jim ""Sparky"" (Cathy) Holt of Arizona; Jay (Kathy) Holt of Aurora; and Kathryn (David) Caffee of Tennessee. Her grandchildren, Joe, Jr (Ellen) Holt; Michelle Holt; Cassandra (Shaun) Brown; Melissa Caffee; Kristy Holt; Michael Caffee; Becky Holt; and Samantha Caffee. She is also survived by her nieces; Judi Dinkle & Jean Simonson. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7th, 5-7pm, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue (at Parker Road), Aurora, CO. Services will be held Monday, November 8th, 1030am, at Gateway Christian Church, 14700 E. Mississippi Ave, Aurora, CO.
