Joe I. Duran

December 12, 1939 — October 10, 2015

On an unusually warm day in Red Wing, Colorado, Joe Duran was born on December 12th, 1939. He was the son of Cordelia and Alfonso Duran and lived his entire adult life in Colorado. In 1958 he graduated high school, then took mechanical drafting and leadership training with Dale Carnegie College. He married the love of his life, Martha, in the early 1960's. They were married for over fifty years and during that time they brought two wonderful children into the world; Jennifer (Jim Mitchell) and Derek. Joe also had four beautiful grandchildren, including Cameron, Keifer, Rain, and Summer. Joe had an entrepreneur spirit and created his own company that fabricated equipment for some of the most successful restaurants in Colorado. And while he loved his work, he loved his family more and the opportunity to golf with his brother Sal. On Saturday, October 10th, 2015, Joe passed away in his sleep. When life is said and done, it's not about the amount of things you have acquired or the material possessions you have obtained, but instead, it's about the people you've loved and influenced. All of those around Joe have been influenced. He touched all of our souls and should be remembered for the love that he brought to us all. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th at 2:00 in the afternoon, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 in the afternoon at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thorton, Colorado. A catered-reception will immediately follow the Funeral Service at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado.
