He graduated from Cripple Creek High School in 1955. He was awarded a scholarship to The Colorado School of Mines, but decided to leave school so he could start working and earning money. Having been born during the Great Depression, he was driven by a relentless need to obtain and maintain financial security.
Joe began his electrician's apprenticeship in 1957 and went on to have a successful 44 year career at Sturgeon Electric. He was regarded as a true craftsman with an admirable dedication to excellence.
Joe utilized his talents to finish and improve the home he purchased in 1969. He lived in that home for 51 years.
Joe was a wonderful provider who made sure his family's needs never went unmet. Joe was a gentle, quiet man who struggled to express his feelings, but who showed his great love by his actions.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Burris; son, Joe Ramsey; grandchildren: Nicholas, Victoria, and Zachary; brother, Bill Jr.; sister, Carol; and many other loving relatives, co-workers and friends.
