Johanna Kathleen Quinn

March 5, 1944 — October 6, 2012

It's a party every night! Johanna K. Quinn made sure of it during the 1980's and early 90's when she owned the Stampede in Winter Park, Colorado. Decorating her club with dazzling and festive decorations, providing exquisite cuisine and drink – one the color blue and aptly named 'Blue Thunder' - and throwing such famous parties as the Wine Tasting, Black and White Night, and New Year's Eve Celebration made way for all of her friends and family to gather and rejoice during the dark and cold days of winter. Jo was a good listener, and while she knew most everything about everyone, here are some things others may not have known about Johanna: she was the daughter of Earl and Virginia Buchmiller, and sister to Richard and David; she was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, and later, Loretto Heights College; she was a nurse and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy; she bore five children – Brent, Parnell, Lorr C., Katherine, and Heather - along with offering her home to many others; she was the Grandma'mere to ten grandchildren; she served on numerous charities and boards, and always offered her time, creativity, and fund-raising ideas; she traveled the world and visited such places as the pyramids in Egypt, the Eiffel Tower in France, and the North Cape in Norway; Johanna also played a mean game of Bridge, and a meaner game of tennis; she was the wife of Lorr W. Quinn, with whom she bravely journeyed through this world, and whom she loved from the first time she met him on a blind date until she passed away on October 6, 2012. Johanna K. Quinn will always be remembered for all of the good times, warmth, love and kindness she brought to everyone who knew her and to everyone she called 'friend'. Johanna's wishes are that we celebrate her life and not mourn her death, and like the giver she truly was, she asked that contributions be made to: Father Woody's Haven of Hope 1101 7th Avenue Denver, CO 80204 303-607-0855 Please click on ""Sign Guestbook"" to share memories of Johanna and messages of condolence with her family.
