John A. Baker

August 11, 1945 — February 17, 2019

John passed due to the natural progression of Alzeheimer's/dementia on 02/17/19 at the age of 73 with his best friend and soul mate Kay Daugaard by his side. He was a veteran and proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He will always be remembered for his smile and the twinkle in his bright blue eyes.

John, the second of four children, was born 8/11/45 in Bryan, TX to Johnny and Inez (Groda) Baker. An avid sports enthusiast, he loved the game of golf although some would say he loved searching for golf balls even more than the game itself. He was a member of the US Golf Teachers Association and the Pinery Country Club, Parker. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and scuba diving. In his youth, he participated in football, wrestling and track in TX and OR; and after graduation, played minor league baseball.

Prior to retirement, John was in the construction business and was a Master Plumber and an electrician. He also worked in the auto industry in the Denver area.

John loved his grandchildren and anxiously awaited their entry into this world. Some of his favorite times were trips to McDonalds play land with grandkids in tow for ice cream sundaes.

John is survived by Kay Daugaard, three children, Alexa (Stephen) Fetch, Littleton, Chad Baker, Tomball, TX, Casey Baker, Tomball, TX, four grandchildren, Reilly, Stephen Axel and Wyatt Fetch and Austin Baker, and a sister Linda (Baker) Campbell, Plaquemine, LA. John considered Stacey (Daugaard) Lynch and her three children, Hunter, Carter and Makenzie, members of his family as well. He is also survived by his aunt Christine Groda (OR), several cousins, nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Inez Baker, an infant son Andy John, and sisters Mary Ann (Baker) Scott, and Francis (Baker Robinson) McKandles.

John's family extends its gratitude to the staff at Banner McKee Medical Center, Loveland, Silver Heights Rehabilitation, Castle Rock, and The Denver Hospice for their outstanding care, compassion and friendship.

Wherever John maybe, we hope there's an endless supply of hole-in-ones, lakes stocked with fish and easy access to the links. We also know his four-legged friends are waiting across the Rainbow Bridge looking for the treats he kept in his pocket.

Memorials can be send to Alzheimer's Foundation or The Denver Hospice.

Graveside services will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Monday, 5/6/2019, 11:30am, Staging Area “B”.
