John Timothy Carr

John Timothy Carr, age 71, of Englewood, Colorado passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019. He was born on October 30, 1948, in Pittsburgh, PA, the fourth of six sons, to Margaret Elizabeth O'Donnell Carr and Joseph Hurson Carr.

John was a 1962 graduate of St. Cyril of Alexandria School and a 1966 graduate of Oliver High School in Pittsburgh where he played football and hockey. A proud Northsider, he loved telling stories about growing up in Brighton Heights and never missed an opportunity to root for his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After serving in the Army Reserves, John began his long career with United Airlines at age 21. He started with UAL as a Ramp Service Agent in Chicago and went on to work in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Denver. A globetrotter at heart, he traveled all over the world in his time away from work. He was a dedicated, beloved and respected long-term employee, leader, mentor and friend within the United Airlines family. After 49 years of service, he retired from UAL as a Lead Ramp Service Agent in May, 2018.

John was the ""glue"" that held his extended family together. He deeply cherished his Irish heritage and his family relationships. Wherever he worked or traveled he always made time to spend with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. With an ever-positive outlook and a passion for adventure, John was welcomed with open arms by his family from coast to coast. His presence brought fun, good times, and laughter to the lives of the people around him. John was an avid sports fan, and greatly enjoyed being a part of the family fantasy football league. He never missed completing the daily crossword puzzle and loved perusing car lots, playing cards, and walking his favorite dog, Percy.

John was a devoted and loving son, brother, husband, father, nephew, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Margaret and Joseph Carr, and his brother 1^st Lt. Dennis Carr. John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Maureen, and his daughter Jillian of Englewood, CO, brothers, Hugh (Sylvia) of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Joseph (Marilyn) of Valrico, FL, Daniel (Nancy) of Franklin Park, PA, and Timothy, six nephews and six nieces. He was dearly loved and he will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO, with Rosary at 6:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 22, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas More Church, 8035 S. Quebec St., Centennial, CO.
