John Eugene Cody, age 87, died peacefully in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, December 13, 2020.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Elmer Cody and Susan Hogan Cody. After graduation from high school, John joined the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance, as a Trappist Monk, where for 21 years he continued a life of service throughout Chile and Argentina. In the mid 1970’s, John left the order and returned to the United States. Eventually settling in Colorado, he became a Youth Counselor for the Division Youth Services for the State of Colorado, until retiring in 1999.
In addition to his career, John was a beloved husband and father who had a passion for travel, reading, playing golf, involvement with professional sporting events, later watching everything sports, especially football, baseball and hockey. John truly had passion for faith and a zest for life. He will be forever cherished by his family and many friends.
Survivors include: Christina M. Cody (Podrat) Daughter - Centennial, Colorado; Ryan J. Podrat (Grandson) - Centennial, Colorado; Thomas Cody (Brother) - Pueblo, Colorado; Ann O’Brien (Sister) – Tulsa, Oklahoma. John was pre-deceased by his wife Mary Louise Cody, both of his parents, as well as by his brothers Joe, Bill and sister Mary Margaret.
