Formerly of Clawson, Michigan passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with pulmonary disease brought on by complications from lung cancer at The Denver Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen (Taggart); his five children, Kathleen Lukowski (Ben), Patrick (Lori) Mary, Marty (Denise) and Michael (Angela). He also is survived by his ten grandchildren and by his sister Ann Howells. He is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Annie Connelly, brothers James and Robert; sisters, Margaret, Alice, Sister Ann Patrick, and daughter Anne Marie. He was a 1951 graduate of St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn, Michigan. Served his country proudly in the United States Army and worked 30 years at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren as a wood model maker before retiring in 1987. Upon retirement he moved to Las Vegas before settling in Denver, Colorado until his death. He was an avid follower of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Enjoyed horse racing, playing poker and remained passionate to the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Pistons. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are at St. Pius X on September 5 in Aurora, Colorado. He will then be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
