John Dwyer

John F. Dwyer died 7/5/2015. He is survived by his wife, Marion J. Dwyer; five daughters: Karin Dwyer, New York City; Colleen Martin (Terry), Fort Collins, CO; Maureen Amendola (Francis), Park City, UT; Marianne Lewis (John), Conifer, CO; Erin Hoffman (Peter), Gilbert, AZ; one son: Michael Dwyer (Mary Jane), Santa Maria, CA; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Claire Dwyer, Nantucket, MA; Patricia Costello Warren, MI, and brothers in laws Dr. William Lynch (Evelyn) DeWitt, MI; Edward Lynch (Billie) Rochester Hills, MI; Dr. Denis Lynch (Micaela) Toledo, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Brockton, MA 7/24/1926. John Dwyer was a long-time active parishioner at Holy Name Catholic Church. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 71 years, and the VFW. He was involved in the RCIA program at Holy Name for 25 years helping to prepare many for the Sacraments of Initiation. He has been married to his wife Marion for nearly 64 years; they had five daughters and one son. He served in the U.S. Army towards the end of war in Europe, a U S Army 5th Armored Division WWII Veteran . He graduated from Regis Catholic University and became an engineer. He retired after 32 years working for Martin-Marietta Company, ending his career as the Director of Logistics. After retirement, he volunteered for the Tourist Bureau giving walking tours of downtown Denver, working in the information booth at the Stock Show and the Taste of Colorado. He also worked at the Dorothy Day food kitchen for many years and in many capacities at Holy Name. He was on the building committee for the construction of the St. Agnes Center, and was proud to explain that it was his idea to cap the Center with a skylight. Visitation Horan & McConaty, Lakewood 7/7/2015, 6:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00. Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM on 7/8/2015 at Holy Name Catholic Church followed by burial at Fort Logan. Reception after burial at St Agnes Center of Holy Name Catholic Church, Sheridan. Contributions in lieu of flowers to Holy Name St. Vincent de Paul. Rosary Service – Tuesday, July 7, 7 pm Horan & McConaty at 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado Visitation 6 – 7 pm Funeral Mass at Holy Name Church Wednesday, July 8, 12:30 pm Committal at Fort Logan: 2:15 pm Reception to follow.
