John Charles Foley

John Charles Foley was born to James Michael Foley and Gertrude Agnes (Dorle) Foley on May 19, 1949 in St Paul, Minnesota. He was the third of five boys. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice Kay (Light) Foley; his children, Bevin Claire Foley, Ryan Sutton Foley, and Mariah Elizabeth Foley; brothers, James M. Foley, Jr. (Patricia), Dan J. Foley (Lynne), Patrick R. Foley (Jeanne), and George W. Foley (Constance); his brother-in-law, Gary L. Light (Shirley) and sister-in-law, Shirley Ann (Light) Hambleton; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many dear cousins. John grew up in Cambridge, Minnesota and graduated from Cambridge High School. He went on to receive a BS from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from the University of Denver. For the past 35 years he has worked in the University of Denver Registrar’s office. Perhaps his most memorable role at the University was helping his daughters sell Girl Scout Cookies throughout the campus. Following his graduation from the University Of Notre Dame, he served for over 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. John was involved in various capacities at St Thomas More Catholic Church, from teaching Small Wonders and Vacation Bible School to singing in various choirs and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. A Visitation and Vigil Service will be held Monday, October 2, 2017 from 3:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Horan & McConaty, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado 80122: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Visitation with music provided by ""Trout Steak Revival"", Bevin Foley's famous bluegrass band 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Vigil Service 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Visitation continued with more live music, fellowship and refreshments, including John's favorite desserts Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 11:00 AM at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street, Centennial, Colorado. Interment will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 2:15 PM at Shelter ""C"", Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado. Military Honors rendered by the United States Air Force. Please arrive by 2:00 PM to STAGING AREA ""C"". Staging Area ""C"" is directly ahead when entering through the north gate on Sheridan Road. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested either a contribution to Trout Steak Revival’s kickstarter campaign (www.helptroutsteak.com) or to the cancer survivor organization, Live by Living, www.Livebyliving.org. John was one of Trout Steak’s biggest fans, only missing the last few Colorado concerts because of his illness, and he was fortunate to participate in several of Live By Living’s local hikes as well as a retreat.
