MATOUSEK, JOHN FRANKLIN
John Franklin Matousek passed away November 25, 2022 at the age of 99. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved to travel, read, ski, golf and play bridge. John was a skilled woodworker, making several pieces of furniture over his lifetime that are now with his family.
John served 3 years in the Army during WWII, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 508th Military Police Battalion. He was deployed to the Rhineland, Germany region providing security during its liberation and subsequent occupation.
John’s education and skills in mathematics and mathematical statistics served him well during his 35-year career developing computer applications for our early military defensive systems and then in general business processes.
After retiring in 1984 John began many rewarding years of charitable volunteer work with the Mental Health Association of Colorado, CCD Computer Training for People with Disabilities and Disability Law Colorado.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jane, and his oldest son John Jr. (Kate). He leaves behind two children, Nancy (Charles) Bigelow, and David (Andrea) Matousek; seven grandchildren, Heather (Pete), Josh, Lindsay, Megan, Ashley (Joe), Krysta and Abby; four great grandchildren, Tristan, Logan, Avery and Sadie; two step grandchildren, Matthew and Caitlyn (Jason); two step great grandchildren, Olivia and Nathan.
