John David Gimlin

John David Gimlin, age 51, died in his home in Lakewood, Colorado, May 2024. John was born July 11, 1972 in Monte Vista, Colorado. He was a graduate of Del Norte High School in 1990. He went on to earn his Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Northern Colorado in 1995. His final year of college John was the editor of the UNC Mirror, the student run newspaper.  

 John was a resident of Littleton for many years before moving to Lakewood three years ago. His working career began in the construction industry as a Project Estimator. Later he became a Real Estate Agent and most recently he was an employee of Charter Communications working as a Data Analyst.

 John was a golfer, fisherman, outdoor enthusiast, and professional sports fan of all teams Denver/Colorado. Some of his fondest memories were the time spent at the Corset Ranch near Del Norte and with friends Davey Colville, Flavio Quintana, and Mike Gettman. He was a constant supporter of his nephews middle school and high school athletic events.

 John is survived by his brother, Bryant Gimlin and sister-in-law Cathy Gimlin of Greeley, Colorado and his sister, Denise (Anne) Gimlin and brother-in-law Michael Wood, of Nederland, Colorado. Other survivors include nieces: Michelle Barrera (Brandon), Cori Gimlin, Carly (Mark) Erbacher, and Morgan Lee, and nephews: William Grazier, Richard Lee Grazier, Captain Jordan Wood, and Ensign Shea Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald “Jerry” Gimlin and Dorothy Jordan Gimlin, sister Terry Lee and many cherished aunts and uncles.  

 A memorial service and reception will be held June 10th at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado at 10 a.m.  Inurnment will be held at the Monte Vista Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colorado at a date to be announced.
