John Grissom

December 26, 1935 — November 6, 2022

John Edward Grissom passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 6th in the early morning hours with his lovely bride of 66 years, Dolores by his side. He was soon joined by family all morning to say their Goodbyes.
John was born on December 26th, 1935 in Denver Colorado to James and Evelyn Grissom.
John went to Denver West HS and graduated in 1955.
It was in High School, where he met the love of his life, Dolores Ortiz. As soon as Dolores graduated from Denver West, they were married and their love affair started. John joined the Marines and his first assignment sent them to the island of Oahu in Hawaii at 150C Kapahulu on Waikiki Beach. John always remembered that address with a big smile that would light up the room. They spent two years there where John served as an expert rifleman. Then it was off to Buford, SC. Another two years, and John's military commitment ended. It was back to Denver where John and Dolores continued to build their family and John went to work for the Fuller Brush Company as a door-to-door salesman. He moved on to Safeway briefly and then worked for Pepsi Cola for seventeen years. After Pepsi, John went into business for himself becoming a successful car wholesaler; Grissom Auto Brokers was then established. John was a hardworking, successful business man who would do anything for family and friends.
John had a massive heart attack in the summer of 1993, which forced him into early retirement. The first year was really hard on him, but being the man he was, he bounced back to live another 28 years. Everyone that came across John's path, was truly blessed. He had a heart of Gold.
John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jim and Bobby; sisters Norma, Donna and Carol.
John is survived by his wife, Dolores Grissom, five daughters, Deborah, Lorraine, Jolene, Jeanette and Christine and their families.
