John (Johnny) passed away on Sunday, August 13, while surrounded in love by his family. Born in Denver on May 30th 1946, Johnny was the second of eight children of Wilma and John Hackett. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara and Donna and brother, Tommy.
When he finished high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1964 and was deployed to Vietnam. Upon his return in 1967, he met Patty and the young couple married in 1968. Patty and John welcomed the first of their three daughters, Wendy, in 1969. Five years later, Gina and Tina were born. John and Patty welcomed their grandchildren, Trey and Alexa in 2002.
The consummate entrepreneur, he and Patty opened Hackett Insurance Agency in 1979. A generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, John’s priority was providing for family and friends. He loved working for himself and sharing his success with others.
As important as the milestones that marked his life are the things in his life that brought him happiness – he loved a good party, a good game of chance, a good argument, a good round of golf, and a good bottle of scotch. He loved fast cars and extravagant vacations (always to places with a beach and a swim-up bar).
Above all, he lived his life on his terms and always made sure those around him had what they needed. Generous…lively…charming…kind…full of laughter…protective…forgiving…loving... We will all miss him greatly.
