John Richard (Dick) Hahn was born in Red Bud, Illinois to Philip Hahn and Mary (Laubenthal) Hahn. He was industrious from an early age, helping his father in their family-owned shoe store, and delivering papers. He attended Red Bud High School where he starred on the varsity basketball team. After attending the University of Illinois for two years, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as a weather observer. After his discharge, he returned to the university and earned a bachelor's degree in economics. He married Marcia Jean Westphal in 1943. His successful sales career took the family to various locations throughout the United States. He was a gifted vocalist and pianist. He had a strong faith in God and enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Littleton. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with family. Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Marcia Jean, and three children: Barbara Oppenheimer (Bill), Steven Hahn (Sandy), and David Hahn (Jill); eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Hahn and Cynthia Bishop (Chris).
