John R. Hare

John “Jack” R. Hare of Aurora, CO passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

 Jack was born on May 10, 1944 in Galesburg, IL to Lyle and Lillian (Nemeth) Hare. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962 and joined the Air Force shortly after. He was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX and honorably discharged in 1966. 

 Jack met Dixie A. Abel in 1967 and they were married on December 13, 1968 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg. He was employed as a ready mix concrete driver for several Galesburg companies. In 1997 the family moved to Colorado where he continued working as a ready mix driver until his retirement in October of 2012. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

 Jack is survived by his wife, Dixie, children Lori Hare of Aurora, CO, Traci (Robert) Davis of Commerce City, CO, Mike Hare of Aurora, CO, grandchildren Matt and Kalie Davis of Commerce City, CO, Ashleigh Hare of Aurora, CO, sisters Diane (John) Marek of Highlands Ranch, CO, Pamela Hare of Centennial, CO, and brother Dan (Vicki) Hare of Centennial, CO. Jack was also loved by his wife’s family Vicki Rice of Galesburg, IL, Kay and John Guiste of Butler, PA, Karen and John Smith of Maquon, IL and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David and Bill Hare.

 Jack’s family would like to thank Namaste Hospice for their care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Dementia Society or Alzheimer’s Association.

 Arrangements have been entrusted to Horan and McConaty Funeral Service and cremation has been accorded.
