John was born on September 27th, 1937, in Colfax, Louisiana, the sixth child born to Ned James Harrison Sr, and Susie Lee Harper-Harrison. His early years were shaped by life on the farm, where he learned the value of hard work alongside his father Raising animals and cultivating the land were essential to the survival of his family. This upbringing fostered a lifelong passion for the dairy industry.

John attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a dedicated student and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. He began his career as a Dairy Plant Supervisor at Southern University.

John met Barbara while attending Southern University. They were married on July 1, 1962. Shortly after, John joined the United States Army and served as an Artillery Specialist. He was Honorably discharged. John and Barbara moved to California and raised their two children, Mark and Lisa.

John had a successful career in the dairy industry. He retired as Production Manager from Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Company. John was a well-respected trailblazer in the dairy industry and the first black production manager in the state of California.

Thru the devotion of his parents, John was brought up in church. He continued in his relationship with the Lord through his life. If you ever heard John share about the Lord, he really brought the thunder of his passionate faith. John served as a member of the Church choir at Gardena Valley Assemblies of God, Gardena, CA.

John loved his family and was loved by them in return. He is preceded in death by his Father, Ned J Harrison Sr, Mother, Susie Lee Harper-Harrison. His brothers, Ned J Harrison Jr, Bennie P Harrison. His sisters, Wille B. Rosounet-Cooke, Maxine Jones-Stanfield, Mabel Roberts. His Daughter, Lisa J Mayhen-Jackson-Brown.

John is Survived by Wife, Barbara McCrury-Harrison. His son, Mark  Elliot Harrison (Davina). His sister, Ora M. Bell (Norman)His grandchildren: Candace Harrison, Marcus Harrison, December Pryor-Dalvi (Abhijheet), Nizhonii Harrison, and Amari Harrison. Christopher Mayhan, Heavenly-Joy Mayhan-Herrera (Ruben), Jasmine Jackson, and Calvin Brown. John lived to see his great grandchildren: Ajaya and Janiyah Lee, Sage DeRammelaere, Naveen and Arya Dalvi, Kendrick Loomis, Judah Blatt, and Elise Jamaiya Mayhan. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom are not listed here, that John loved very much.
