John passed away unexpectedly May 25, 2016. He was 85 years old, residing in Arvada, Colorado. John was born to Joseph and Anne Hayden on November 24, 1930, in Wilhelmina, Missouri. He married Natalie Papieski on April 11, 1959. John is remembered by his family as a humble man who quietly did great things. A hero to those who knew him well, but never one to let people know what he was doing. He raised six children with his wife Natalie, who preceded him in death on Labor Day 2015. He fought in the Korean War, as a parachuter from 1949-1952, put himself through college at DU to become a chemist, graduating on June 6, 1956, did Ride the Rockies at the age of 72, and at the end of his life he started a foundation he called Trivial Donations to help people hurt by the 2008 recession. He called it trivial donations because he wanted people to know that a little help no matter how trivial can go along way. And indeed it did. John was not wealthy by any means but through his foundation he would eventually raise and give over $100, 000 to charities that helped people in need of food, shelter, education and employment. John will remain an inspiration to his family and those he helped well beyond the end of his life. He is preceded in death by his wife, Natalie; and daughter, Beth. John is survived by children, Anita, Joel, Susan, David and John; along with numerous grandchildren and grand dogs. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life on Saturday, June 4, 2016, with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 12:00 p.m., with Funeral Mass immediately following at 12:30 p.m., all at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 12735 West 58th Avenue, in Arvada, Colorado.
