John Reed Hazlett

John died Sunday, November 11, 2012, in Florida. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memories, his loving wife, Bonnie of 48 years; daughters, Michele (John) Ortiz and Stacia Hazlett; son, Bradley (Kori) Hazlett; and 6 grandchildren, Parker, Connor, Emily, Makenzie, Brooklyn and Sienna. He is survived by 8 siblings, brothers: Vern (Shirley), Robert (Cathy), Don (Lacretia) Steven, and James and sisters, Lucille Retke, Lois Krauss, Glady (Cy) Moyer and Helen (Dwight) Haley. He leaves behind family Peggy & Gary Daughtery, Judy & Leroy Dunn, John & Lisa Courier; and many nieces and nephews. John was born in Norton, Kansas, May 31, 1939 and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Norton High School in 1957, joining the Kansas National Guard. John received a BA in Finance from Fort Hayes State University in 1962. After graduation he went to Casper, Wyoming to work for Pan American Petroleum Corporation. John and family moved to Denver in 1965. After 40 years in the industry, John retired from Whiting Petroleum as Vice President of Acquisitions and Land to become a snow bird, enjoying cooler months in Florida and warmer months in the beautiful Breckenridge area that he so loved. John will be missed by his many friends both at home and in Florida and family near and far. Funeral Mass will be held on December 14, 2012, 10:00 A.M., Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 1900 California Street in Denver, Colorado 80202. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity he and Bonnie supported for over 20 years, The Cancer League of Colorado LLC, PO Box 5373 Englewood, Colorado 80155-5373.
