John Francis Kane passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024 following a courageous fight against cancer. He was born on June 23, 1940 in Taylor, Pennsylvania to Ambrose and Veronica Kane. He grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey alongside his two sisters, Rosemary and Maureen. John attended St. Benedict’s Prep. High School in Newark, NJ and St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York. He served in the United States Army for three years following his college graduation and was honorably discharged in 1966 as a Captain. He then began a career with Johnson & Johnson where he discovered his passion for recruiting. He had several different positions within J&J and eventually left to become the first Director of Human Resources for Applied Materials in Santa Clara, California. After ten wonderful years at Applied, John left to pursue his long-term goal of Executive Search, which landed him in Littleton, Colorado in 1989. He traveled throughout the country interviewing candidates and truly enjoyed that role. After retiring, John worked at the Colorado Convention Center, where his co-workers became more like family.
John was truly one of a kind. A man of genuine kindness and service to others, John will be remembered for his warm smile, positivity, sense of humor, and love for his family. He was passionate about a job well done, whether that was making breakfast for his wife or building a fire in such a way to establish a perfect bed of coals. John was a man of great faith, and we are comforted to know he is whole with Jesus. John is survived by his wife Maryann, his sister Maureen, his children Shawn (Connie), Kellee (Dustin), Lou (Denae), Molly (Colton), his grandchildren Garrett, Adam, Ava, Chase, RJ, Renna, Lily, Ryan, and Hallie, his honorary grandchildren James and Ellie, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ambrose and Veronica, his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Timothy, and his brother-in-law and best friend Raymond Dee. We will honor his legacy by being quick to offer a smile and genuine care to those around us and taking great pleasure in sitting by a nice “fire in the hearth”. John is incredibly loved and deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10am at Waterstone Church, 5890 S. Alkire St, Littleton. A burial will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 12:30pm in Staging Area B. All are welcome to celebrate John’s life immediately following the burial at Governor’s Ranch Clubhouse, 9050 W. Prentice Ave, Littleton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to Waterstone Church.
