John Louis Keelan, 83, of Golden Colorado passed on September 24, 2016. John was born in Denver on June 17, 1933 to the late Joseph and Anna Keelan. He dedicated his life to a career in public service as a Denver Fire Fighter where he served for 33 years; ascending to the position of Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Prevention Bureau Chief. As a young man he served in the US Navy as an airplane mechanic in the western Pacific. John loved his family and friends and was always ready for a good soaking with his brothers at Hot Sulphur Springs keeping up the long tradition of the Keelan clan. He is survived by his wife, Ann Keelan and his four children Jeanine and husband Mario, John and wife Cheryl, Dan and partner Jaci, and Steve and partner Jennifer; sister-in-laws Fran Keelan, Lola Keelan; Sister and brother-in-law Mary and Pat Laurienti. Predeceased by brothers Joe and Jim Keelan and their surviving children Jim, Pat, Kevin and Kenneth Keelan. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10 am, at Saint Joseph's Church, 969 Ulysses Street, Golden followed by a reception at the same location.
