John Thomas Kennedy

John Thomas Kennedy, of Arapahoe County, died peacefully on April 16, 2014. John was born November 27, 1942 in Denver, Colorado. John attended South High School, the University of Colorado, and received his degree from the University of Denver. John started his 42 year banking carrier in 1963 with Denver US bank. His positions included Vice President at United Bank of Denver, President, COO, and/or CEO of United Bank of Aurora, Aurora National Bank, and Guaranty Bank and Trust. He served as Chairman or President for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Aurora Education Foundation, Aurora Rotary Club, Craig Hospital Board, and the Telluride Jazz Festival. He also served as an Officer, Director, or Trustee for Aurora Presbyterian Hospital, University of Denver- Board of Fellows, Mile High United Way, United Health Care, Denver Area Council-Boy Scouts, Community College of Aurora Foundation, Big Brothers, Aurora Housing Corporation, University of Colorado-Denver College of Business, Rotary International District 5450, and the Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. John was also a member of the Denver Country Club and the Gyro Club of Denver. He is survived by his two sons, John Gardiner Kennedy (Valerie), Thomas James Kennedy (Courtnee), seven Grandchildren; Anna, Kyle, Adalyn, Ryan, Sean, Katharine and Grace, his former wife Ann Sullivan Kennedy, Mother and Grandmother to all, his sister, Janet Louise Walkinshaw (Cecil) and his nephew Stephen James Shrum. Memorial service will be held Tuesday April 22, 2014 at 10:30AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014. In lieu of flowers, the family request donation to the Alzheimer's Association www.alzfdn.org or the Boy Scouts of America www.denverboyscouts.org.
