John Kokish

March 12, 1935 — August 10, 2018

John Kokish, 83, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away on August 10, 2018. John was born on March 12, 1935 in Vienna, Austria to Malvina and Walter Kokish. After escaping Nazi, Germany, he was raised in New York City. John graduated from Bronx High School of Science and served in the United States Army. He went on to receive two masters’ degrees in Shakespearian Literature and English, from New York University (NYU). He then left New York City in 1966, moving to Denver, Colorado to pursue a career in journalism. He was hired by the Denver Post as an investigative reporter. In Denver, he found one of his first loves in life, the Denver Broncos. He then opted for a new career, putting himself through law school at the University of Denver at night. Shortly after starting his new career, he met the real love of his life, Ann. John eventually started his own law firm in downtown Castle Rock where he worked until just last year. His reputation was one of greatness and the highest ethical standards. Above all else, John loved and treasured his daughters, to whom he was the most devoted, engaged and loving father. He is survived by Wife: Ann, Daughters: Becky Goldmanis (Ben) and Jessica Kokish, Sister: Carolyn Kokish (Arthur White), Brother-in-law: Clarke Octigan (Jill), Grandchildren: Annie and Will Goldmanis, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 17th from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Goldmanis residence.
