Don Lashway passed away peacefully at St Andrews Assisted Living, Aurora Co. surrounded by his family on June 22, 2023, one day before his 94th birthday.
He is survived by 4 of his 5 children, Colleen Lashway, HI, Peter Lashway, GA, Tom Lashway GA, Mary Jarossy (Lashway) CO, and preceded in death by his wife Mary Lashway (Ostlund) and son Brett Lashway CO.
Don was born in Stanford, Montana on June 23rd, 1929, 2nd eldest of 8 children. At the age 18 he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War as a naval aviator.
Don was part of the first generations of military members to receive the GI bill, and after completing his service, he attended Montana State University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering, and served as Student Council President.
Shortly after graduating college he started his 38 year career with Honeywell, serving his final years with the company, and retiring at age 65 in Honolulu, HI.
His passions in life were many - from boxing in high school, to creating a loving family, watching his granddaughters grow up, conquering golf, and cheering on the Broncos no matter how poorly they played. But nothing could top his favorite pastime of fly fishing.
Anyone who was lucky enough to get to know Don always had the same thing to say. He was one of the most patient, kind and easy going people they have ever met. He truly believed that if you couldn’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all!
His funeral services were held July 3rd at Fort Logan with family and friends in attendance. In his memory, please provide donations to The Parkinson’s Foundation in lieu of flowers.
