John Robert Malensek passed away on March 22, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. John was born in Denver, Colorado on September 5, 1951, joining older siblings Carol Baird and Gordon Malensek. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alta Malensek. John entered military service in 1969 and received an Honorable Discharge. He later chose the career of an electrician and worked as an industrial commercial electrician and a maintenance electrician. Following military service John joined the VFW, Post 4171. John had an inquisitive mind. He would look at something and wonder how it worked and never stopped seeking the answer until he had figured it out. Among his many interests after retirement in 2008, John joined a radio club learning how to work on vintage tube radios. A man of many talents, he could fix anything imaginable. He especially liked being known as the ""King"" of the beer club. He was gardener who truly had a green thumb. Some of Johns other interests were scuba diving, mountain bike riding, and hiking and camping with friends. John loved traveling with his wife Mona to many parts of the world, expanding their knowledge and making beautiful memories together. John would help others often; His last act of generosity was giving the gift of sight to two strangers. He will be missed by those who loved him and his many friends. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Area B, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
