John Kirby McAlister Jr. was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas on January 12, 1935. He is an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Texas and graduated from Texas A & I University. He came to Denver in 1960 to visit friends, fell in love with the mountains and never left. He worked at Cervieâs Journal and Sam Luski Advertising before opening his own business, Western States. He later went into printing and owned Entire Graphics.
Kirby married the love of his life, Pat Ward, in 1963. He is survived by his wife, daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Al) McAlister-Gerni, a son, Michael Kirby (Elizabeth) McAlister and a grandson, Avan McAlister. He also has a niece, Anne Boothe Firkins and nephews, Kirk Meadows, Paden Boothe and Sawyer Boothe.
Kirby was an avid sports fan, scratch golfer (2 holes in one!), outdoorsman, avid reader, creative artist and incredible storyteller. He was a loving husband and father who loved his wife of 56+ years. He was a faithful servant of God and his family. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1pm, Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 920 Kipling Street, Lakewood, Colorado. Services to conclude at the church.
