John F. O'Dea

John F. O'Dea, 99, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018, surrounded by his family. He lived a full life, his way, full of family, friends, adventures and a zest for lifelong learning. Born in Brooklyn, New York. Graduated from the University of Notre Dame, Class of 41' and went on to become a Pilot, Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy, 1941-45. John married Georgia Mary Kelly from Chicago and began their life together there. They moved to Denver in 1955 and raised 4 children. He was president of the Denver Union Corporation for two decades and always active in the Denver community including Rotary International, Board Member of Denver Chamber of Commerce, President of Crestmoor Community Association and Denver Country Club.

Preceded in death by his wife Georgia, ""his partner and strongest supporter"". He is survived by their 4 children: G. Kelly (Karen), John Jr. (Diane), Julie (Paul Spaeth), Kitty (Bill Jadkowski), 5 grandchildren: Tierney, Rosie, Jule, John & Will, 2 great grandchildren: Alice & Theo and his canine buddy, Doozy.

John loved traveling the world, especially cruising with the family.

John was strong in will and faith, a role model who championed all his children's and grandchildren's efforts. He was grateful for his friends and a friend to many. He was a true class act, humble and ever the gentleman. He lived life fully to the end. He often said, ""It's been a great run"". Indeed. He will be greatly missed beyond words but his principles for living will continue to guide us all.

Funeral services will be private, and burial will follow in Chicago, Ill.
