John D. Saviers

August 14, 1920 — February 6, 2015

John Darrell Saviers, born August 14, 1920 in Canon City, Colorado died February 6, 2015. Survived by his wife of 67 years Martha (Griffiths), sister Jerry (Dameron); children Debra, John (Shannon), William, Barbara, James, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Raised in Canon City, Denver and Colorado Springs, John learned the building and plumbing trades from his grandfather and father. He was a WWII fighter pilot with the Chinese American Composite Wing (CACW) in China whose surviving members, both Chinese and American, reunited in 1981 for many travels to Taiwan, China and the United States. John and Martha married in 1948 in Canon City. He attended CU for his undergraduate work and DU Law School. Upon receiving acceptance to the Colorado Bar Association in 1951, he worked for the City and County of Denver, then private practice in Aurora, CO until 1995. He was a founder of the Colorado Civil Air Patrol, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Aurora, and Colorado Ski Patrol. As an active member of the Aurora Community he served as president of Aurora Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. His published book, placed in the library of Congress of the Saviers family history is a source of genealogy for those who hold that name throughout the United States. Logan 12:15 PM on Tuesday, February 17th, Staging Area C. There will be a short reception preceding at the Saviers home at 10:30.
