John Andrew Sells III, 83, a native of Denver, Colorado, died November 7, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia, their four children, Linda, Jennifer, Karen and John, eleven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren, his sister Carolyne, two nephews and a niece. John was an alumni of CSU and the University of Denver. He received his MBA from the University of Denver while raising a family. He was a veteran Air Force aviator and patriot who was honored to serve his country. John continued to enjoy aviation for the rest of his life. Between his time in the Air Force and his insurance career, the family moved all over the United States. Along with his insurance practice he oversaw and operated three working farms. An avid outdoorsman and lover of all animals, John adored his beloved Colorado. An ardent beekeeper, John won 1st place for his honey at the Douglas County Fair. Masonic roots run deep in the Sells family. John was the son of a Mason, a Mason himself as well as a past Master of Union Lodge #7. He was an accomplished trombonist who played ""gigs"" until his recent death. After retirement, John authored two books, one on Stagecoaches and one on the Moffat Tunnel. At the time of his death, he was working on his third book. John will be missed by his family and many friends. His memorial service is being held November 14, 2015 at 10 a.m., Horan & McConaty, 1091 South Colorado Blvd., Denver, Colorado 80209. Please share condolences below.
