John Treinen, 69, of Aurora, Colorado passed away November 4, 2017 at his home. John was born in Sioux City, IA; the third of eight children born to Robert Dale and Rita Grace Treinen. John married the love of his life, Sue Kopp, in 1971 in Sioux City. A graduate of Bishop Heelan High School, Class of 1967, he relived many good times with old friends at the recent 50th reunion. He was awarded a BA from Briar Cliff College, a MA degree from the University of Northern Colorado and a MA degree from University of Colorado, Denver. John loved his work helping the handicapped and elderly for over 30 years with Good Will and the State of Colorado. John was known for his cut glass artistry, a skill he learned from his wife Sueâs grandfather, Grandpa Gus. John was never idle and was known for his projects and collections. He was always willing to help his family, friends and those in need with both his time and advice. John will always be remembered for his big heart. He is survived by his daughter Julie (Chris) Ventura of Union City, CA and son Eric (Christy) Treinen of Alamosa, CO, grandchildren Emily Ventura, Cory Ventura, Clayton Treinen, Blake Treinen, brothers and sisters Mary (John) Treinen-Moslen, Jim (Eva) Treinen, Jerry (Theresa) Treinen, Richard (Angela) Treinen, Anne (Joe) Hanson, Michael (Amy) Treinen. John was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Rita, brother Thomas, wife Sue and son Gregory. A memorial will be held at 11 AM on November 11th at Horgan & McConaty in Aurora.
