John passed away peacefully on July 19, 2010 in Aurora, Colorado. He was 81 years old. Born in St. Paul, MN to Leo J. Truso and Ceil Schwartz Truso. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Whittaker Truso of 51 years and their children Mark Truso (Debbie) of Fresno, CA, Susanne (Dean) Pulver of Parker, CO and Craig (Kathleen) Truso of Land O' Lakes, FL and four beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke, Sydney and Logan. Also surviving sisters Mary Christjaener and Patricia Jaramillo, sister-in-law Joan Truso, brother in-law Gerd Buchen and numerous nieces and nephews. As a teenager he served in the US Marine Corp. He attended the University of Minnesota and Hamline University in St. Paul, MN where he graduated with a business degree. Over the years John lived in St. Paul, MN, St. Louis, MO, New York City, NY, New Providence, NJ and Fresno, CA and since 1980 in Colorado Springs, CO. He lived in Aurora, CO for the last few months of his life. For 31 years John worked for Equitable Life, mostly in their New York City headquarters. He also worked for Farmers Insurance in Colorado Springs, CO. He served on the board of The United Way in Colorado Springs, CO and the Lions Club in New Providence, NJ. The world is darkened without him, but a better place having had him in it.
