John Otto Tumler, age 71, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Sunday, October 7.
Born September 10, 1947, in Denver, John lived in Wheat Ridge and Aurora. He graduated from Metro State College, where he was the golf coach. He served as a Denver Police Officer and as a Food and Nutrition Specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He volunteered as a driver for the Red Cross, and enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, theatre, old TV westerns, and Frank Sinatra music. He was loved for his excellent cooking, irreverent humor, quick wit, generosity, and kindness.
He is survived by his loving wife Pamela Marshall Tumler, of Aurora; sister Sharon Tuverson [Arthur] of Palm Desert; sister-in-law Sharon Marshall Becker, of Lakewood; brother-in-law Scott Marshall (Connie), of Lakewood; nephews and nieces Brian Becker (Jenna), of Aurora; Tim Becker (Shannon), of Steamboat Springs; Sarah Coryell (Robert), of Lakewood; Denise Nichols, of Aurora; and eight adorable great-nephews and -nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Frederick Tumler and Margaret Rose Kuhnle, and beloved aunt Elizabeth Tumler Hayes.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora. Following a reception, burial will be at 3 p.m. at Olinger's Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge.
Memorial contributions are welcome to the Creede Repertory Theatre or the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
