John Vodneck was born to John M. Vodneck and Genevieve Rowe Vodneck in Kemmerer, Wyoming on September 6, 1932. His father was employed in the coal mines surrounding Kemmerer and his mother taught school in the small communities around Kemmerer. With the death of his father in a coal mining accident John and his mother returned to her childhood home in Wiley, Colorado. She subsequently accepted a teaching job in Bennett, Colorado, where she married Wib Graham and the family made their home there. Jack graduated from Bennett High School in 1950. Following his graduation from Colorado A&M University with a degree in Agricultural Science, he served in the U.S. Army. He joined the United States Food and Drug Administration in 1960. He served in many capacities in the Denver and Dallas District offices and the San Antonio and Madison Wisconsin field offices. He retired as a compliance officer in 1996. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and sports. Jack shared his love of the outdoors and sports with his children and grandchildren. He coached both boy's baseball and girl's softball. The Broncos and Avalanche had no more severe critic. He and his wife, Mary, have five children - Michael, Elizabeth Wood, Mary Kay and Joan Vodneck, and Ricia Adams; two grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren. He is also survived by son-in-laws Greg Wood and Rick Adams.
