John Herbert Walter

Aurora, Colorado – John Herbert Walter of Aurora, was born on April 4, 1958 in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to James and Arline (Holmes) Walter. He graduated from Panora-Linden High School in 1976. He married Catherine Lynn Hublein on August 29, 1981. John and Cathy have two daughters, Roseann Marie (Steve) Johnson and Sarah Lynn Walter. John passed away on October 28, 2016 at the age 58 after a long battle with cancer. John was proud to serve in the US navy for 22 years, from July, 1976 until he retired in November, 1998. During this period, he served on the USS Enterprise, the USS O'Brien, the USS Chandler, and the USS Ingraham. He also served as an instructor at the Great Lakes Naval Facility in Great Lakes Illinois. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters Mary (Thomas) Thiltgen and Susan (Harold) Rossow. He is survived by his wife and daughters; granddaughters Elena and Meghan Johnson; brother, James (Jane) Walter, Jr.; 18 nieces and nephews; and 15 grand nieces and nephews. John enjoyed fishing and camping with his bride and friends. He was an active member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church. John was an active member of the IBEW #111 and the Family Camping and RV Club (Viewfinders chapter). Friends are invited to join John's family to remember his life at the facilities of Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014 on Friday, November 4, between the hours of 5 PM - 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 5 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 18901 E Hampden Ave., Aurora, CO. Viewing will begin at 1 PM; services will begin at 2 PM. John will be interred at Ft. Logan Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO at 10 AM on Monday, November 7. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul Presbyterian Church or Seasons Hospice in care of Cathy Walter.
