Johnathan "Johnny" Boring

November 27, 1988 — November 2, 2020

Northglenn

Johnny was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1988 and lived in Olathe, Kansas until he and his family moved to Golden, Colorado in 1995. Johnny loved the mountains of Colorado. He was an avid hiker and loved snowboarding, and most recently, kayaking. He married Katey, the love of his life, on June 20, 2020 and they lived with their two dogs (Cash and Lucy) in Northglenn, Colorado until his death. Most recently he found peace by painting and nurturing houseplants. Johnny just reached 180 days of sobriety.

He worked as a Union Journeyman Millwright for the last 12 years and was often a foreman but avoided it when he could. He loved making people laugh, so at work he was known as “Johnny Haha”. He was a skilled welder and was called on to work in tight spaces because of his tall and thin stature.

Survivors include his wife Katey (Roberts) Boring; his 3 children, Caden, Cole, and Taelynn Boring; his parents, Jeff and Tina (Smith) Boring; his Sister Jessica (Boring) and Aaron Saunders and their 3 children, his brother Justin Boring; grandparents, John and Nancy (Starr) Smith, and Jack Boring; along with aunts, uncles and cousins. His wife’s surviving family include her parents, Angelo and Ginny Roberts; Katey’s siblings, Alisha (Kathleen) Roberts, Joe Roberts (Jeremy Salome), and Grace Roberts.

Johnny is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Geraldine (Franklin) Boring and Anne (Meade-Smith) Jackson; and great-grandmothers, Nora Maxine (Cunningham) Smith and Dorothy (Franklin) Quinn.

Due to COVID restrictions, a family only viewing is scheduled for November 7th at 1pm at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home at 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood CO.  Johnny wished for his ashes to be scattered in the mountains at a waterfall that he and Katey often went to for their much-loved time in nature. When that date/time is set, his family and friends will be notified.

The family asks that you consider donating to causes that support those who suffer from addiction, depression, or mental illnesses.
