Johnnie Lones Murphy, 87, passed away quietly at the Aurora Medical Center on March 26, 2016 with her husband, Jim Murphy, by her side. Johnnie was born on November 27, 1928, in Dallas, TX, the daughter of John and Nancy Lones. She graduated from the University of Texas in 1949 with a degree in Bacteriology. Upon graduation, she pursued a life-long career as a flight attendant for Pioneer, and later Continental Airlines, based in Denver. She and Jim were members of the Presbyterian Church of The Covenant. Whether working in the Church thrift shop, serving meals to the needy, or learning new skills with Habitat for Humanity, Johnnie was motivated to care for others. Volunteer work was an important part of her life. She and Jim belonged to the Colorado Mountain Club and loved to hike. They enjoyed skiing and travel, including trips and cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean and a photo safari in Kenya. Johnnie is survived by her husband Jim; stepdaughters Michaela and her husband Don, Patricia and her husband George, and Ginger; step-grandchildren Donald, Christopher and his wife Tara, Jennifer, Kelly and her husband Pierre-Marie, Aubrey and Sarah; step-great grandchildren Timon, Koben, Alia and Kailey.
