On Monday, April 8, 2019, John Ennis, loving husband and father of two children, passed away unexpectedly at age 50 while on vacation in St. Kitts.
John was born on May 21, 1968 in Pensacola, FL to Sheila (Hamm) Carrigan. He lived in Monte Vista, Alamosa and Commerce City, all in Colorado. He graduated from Monte Vista High School and received his chemistry degree from Adams State University. In 1993, he married Vicki (Olson) Ennis. Together they raised their daughter, Jordan, and son, Josh.
John had a passion for all sports. The sport he enjoyed most was anything either of his children was playing. He supported his kid's games for many years by keeping stats and being their biggest fan. John played softball for over 20 years with his wife and close friends. He also loved to read, and was a collector of Stephen King novels. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. John is also an Eagle Scout. He was known for his amazing memory, being helpful and thoughtful.
John worked for the South Adams County Water and Sanitation District for 12 years performing critical water quality analysis, customer service and participated in and chaired the District's Safety Committee. Most recently, John was the leader in the process to investigate, choose, design and start the construction of a treatment process to soften the District's water supplies. John also served four years on the District's Board of Directors where he provided leadership and guidance on multiple landmark decisions. John also represented the District for 10 years on the Metropolitan Denver Wastewater Reclamation District's Board of Directors.
John is survived by his wife Vicki of 25 years, his two children, Jordan and Josh, his siblings Susan Ennis, Bob Ennis, Doug Carrigan, Michael (Shauna) Carrigan, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and close extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sheila.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019, 10:00 am, at Horan & McConaty (9998 Grant St, Thornton CO 80229).
People are encouraged to wear their favorite sports clothing (t-shirt, jersey, etc.).
