We mourn the loss of our beloved father, Johnny Martinez who passed away on April 22, 2023. Born in La Junta, Colorado in 1950, he was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and proud Marine.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Johnny enlisted in the United States Marines and was deployed to Vietnam where he served two tours of duty. He served his country with honor, bravery, and dedication, earning several medals for his service including a purple heart. He was proud to have served and was grateful for the opportunity to defend his country.
After returning from the war, he settled down in Denver, Colorado and started a family. He was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and infectious smile. He cherished his Family, loved riding his Harley Davidson, listening to “oldies” and wore his Marine Corps colors until his dying day. He loved to work around the house and lend a helping hand to those in need.
Johnny is survived by his children: Lorri (Troy) Martinez, Jonathan (Michelle) Martinez, Pamela Sansburn and Jennifer (Christopher) Adams, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
His legacy of service, sacrifice, and kindness will live on through the memories of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
May he rest in peace, and may his memory and his dedication to this country, be a blessing to all who knew him.
Committal Service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023, 11:15am, Staging Area C, Fort Logan National Cemetery.
