Johnny Scott Tate of Littleton, Colorado passed away on December 22, 2022 at the age of 76, with his family by his side.
Johnny was born December 18, 1946 to Orval (Bub) Tate and Lela Raye Glenn in Borger, Texas.
Johnny was a graduate of Borger High School, Class of 1964. In 1965 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served and trained as a vehicle and track vehicle mechanic spending 3 years of service in Frankfurt, Germany.
After the military he went on to earn an Associates in Engineering and an Associates in Mid Management degree from Frank Phillips College. He worked for over 40 years in the construction engineering and management field at various companies including Fish Engineering, KN Energy and Kinder Morgan.
In 1970 he met the love of his life, Gail Lynn Lowe. They were united in marriage on February 18, 1971. The couple has three daughters, Pamela Lynn (Tate) Long, Sharon Ann (Tate) Moncrief and Susan Gail Tate. Early on the family lived in Borger, Texas and then later moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1991. In 1993 they moved to Littleton, Colorado.
His love of travel was shared with his family through the years. Fond memories were made as a family traveling across the United States, experiencing the history, National Parks and culture of the various locations. He continued this passion the last several years traveling with Gail to a variety of locations including the Caribbean, New York City, Niagara Falls, Canada, London, Paris, Barcelona and Rome and many other places. These trips created special lasting memories for us all.
His hobbies included coin collecting, gardening, photography, bowling and golf.
Johnny was a handy, hard working, jack-of-all-trades kind of man. His goal was to leave this place a better world than he found it and be successful in his career and in his life. He was able to accomplish these things in his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jimmy Tate, father-in-law, Jack Lowe and mother-in-law, Margaret Adams and her husband, E.O. Adams; sister-in-law, Carrol Shaver; and niece, Melissa Lowe.
Johnny is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Gail; his daughters: Pamela Long and her husband Aaron; Sharon Moncrief and her husband Darren; and Susan Tate; three grandchildren he dearly loved, Lauren Moncrief, Morgan Moncrief and Justin Moncrief; step-grandson, Austin Long; brother-in-law: Dale Lowe and his wife Donna; nieces: Lynzee Oden and her husband Justin and their children Christian, Peyton, Declan, and Jolee; and Lynn Logsdon and her husband Lance and their children Kasey and Rowdy; along with extended family members and friends.
A memorial has been established in Johnny’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
A Memorial Service honoring Johnny's life will be held on Friday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood.
