Jonathan Mays

August 10, 1956 — August 5, 2022

Brighton, CO

Jonathan L. Mays of Brighton, CO passed away at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of a sudden illness on August 5, 2022 at the age of 65 and was born in Atwood, KS to Richard Dean and Marita Mays. Jon came from a large family that loves and supports each other through it all. Jon’s siblings will tell you that Jon is a jokester and very loving. He cares about everyone and tries to show it. Even though they all are separated by miles, their hearts still reside in their bond of sibling love. Barbara June Lovett [spouse- Charlie Lovett- deceased], Roland Mays [spouse- Linda Mays], Rod Mays [spouse-Karen Mays], Doris Mays [spouse- Eugene Langdon]. Rose Atchley [spouse- Dwayne Atchley- deceased], Patrick Mays [spouse- Valerie Mays], Anita Mays- deceased, Richard (Dick) Mays- deceased, Darrel Mays – deceased.  Having the love of a large family, Jon continued that with having a large family of his own. Jon has 7 wonderful children, Ryan Mays, Justin Williams [Amanda Schneider], Richard (Rick) Mays, Rita Mays [Kyle Toogood], Andrea Williams, Nikki Williams, and Serenity Gary. Jon absolutely loved helping his children at every turn and would get up to assist them no matter the time or the weather, he would be there.  Jon married and loved Stephanie Mays with all of his heart and they would both say, from this life to the next, they would be together. Stephanie will tell you that Jon is her best friend, a devoted husband, and that there is no other like him or will there ever be.  Stephanie’s mom, Elaine Williams, sings the praises of her son-in-law to all who listens.

Jon will tell you that he went to the school of ‘Hard Knocks’ then made it to his current field. Jon loved his employment field in Project Management of Water and Waste Water Management and is one of the few in the country to hold the level of expertise A Class in both fields. Jon would be consulted from other municipalities as his reputation of knowledge in the field was above reproach and well respected.  Jon’s coworkers will miss him dearly and had prayed for his return.

Jon is sorely missed, even his practical jokes where he would cause many screams of fright in his household by making wild cats sounds. Jon is a devout Christian with his favorite verse being John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He is now with his lord savior and hugging and kissing all those who preceded him including his mom and dad.

Jon, we all miss you and love you dearly! Stephanie would say, from this to the next, I will see you again. Jon would likely reply, just not yet.   Jon, we love you.
