Jonathan Joseph Power

October 7, 1974 — December 30, 2016

Jonathan Joseph Power, 42, of Denver Colorado died, Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, in Denver, Colorado ending his hard fought battle with leukemia. Jon was born October 7, 1974 in Denver Colorado and was a lifelong Colorado Resident. Jon graduated from Northglenn High School in 1993. He attended college at Ft. Lewis College. He then moved to Steamboat Springs, CO to pursue snowboarding and to be with friends and worked as a HVAC mechanic. He moved back to Denver to be with his mom. He found his way back to Steamboat Springs and played a pivotal role in Marshall's Enterprises-Plumbing & Mechanical contractors, and to the family, where he excelled at everything he did. Due to the recession he relocated back to Denver and went to work for Integrated Power Services rebuilding electric motors and generators until he began his battle with cancer. He is survived by his sister, Rona Power of Denver, Grandmother, Marietta Walmsley of Julesburg, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by father and mother, Ronald and Ramona Power, grandmother Margaret power, grandfather Edward Power and grandfather Lloyd Walmsley. Jon Power, A.K.A. Early, Big Red, Big John, and Uncle Red to the little ones, was Best Friend to many of us. Jon had so many true friends simply because he was such a good one. To Jon, a relationship worth having, was one worth keeping and maintaining. He was like the glue that bonded a lot of us together over the years. This is seen in the countless people that have kept in touch because Jon was a mutual friend, and he was always making new ones in new circles. He was even good friends with and will help out friends parents, he was like one of the family. It Makes some wonder how he made time to be such a good friend to so many. Jon's selflessness was a character trait to be admired. He would do everything in his power to lend a helping hand. If he had to drive 5 hours to help you for fifteen minutes he would without hesitation. He was the person you could rely on every time all the time. Jon was pure and straight forward and sometimes stubborn. You would never have to guess what he was thinking because he would tell you. For Jon, at work, at play, or anything else, there was only one way to approach life, and that was to do it right, there are no shortcuts. Jon in his own way was able to teach grown adults life long lessons, he was able to show us how to live, time and time again, he would remind us that things we are worrying about really do not matter, and to focus our attention to the bigger picture, love, family and friends. Jon was great with and loved his friends kids and they loved their Uncle Red, spending time and playing and learning so much. The little ones feel so blessed and were so lucky to have him in their lives. Besides people, Jon loved the outdoors, snowboarding, camping, nature, anything mechanical, music and going to shows. He had just recently gone with friends to see Tool. He also loved to support friends in local bands such as Watertower, Lotus Gait and Rexway/Thief River. Jon had a awesome sense of humor, was fun to be around, could fix anything, and was simply a great guy who will be missed tremendously. This world lost a special person who truly was one of a kind. We love you Jon! An informal celebration of life gathering to share stories and friendship is planned but the place time and date is TBD and will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Rona Power or donations in the Memory of Jon may be made to the: Love, Hope Strength Foundation 1014 S.
