Joni Marie Devers

Joni Marie Devers, age 49, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is the beloved wife of Charles Swigart; mother to Axel Swigart (5), and stepmother to Madison Swigart (16). Joni is the sister of Bob Devers and daughter of the late Rich and JoAnn Devers of Littleton, Colorado. Joni was raised in Littleton, Colorado and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1986. After high school, Joni attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. She graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Elementary Education. Joni is also a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. Her career began in early childhood at Crème de la Crème (Lone Tree, CO) in 1999, ultimately serving as Director of Administration. After 14 years at Crème, Joni joined the Primrose School of Highlands Ranch in 2013, and served on the school’s administration team until her passing. Joni always dreamed of being a mother. Having children fulfilled her deepest wishes. She is a loving and loyal wife; nurturing mother; and well-loved friend to all that know her. Although her life ended too soon, she accomplished those things that mattered most to her. She is especially good at, and enjoyed, planning activities and craft making. She cooked delicious Italian meals, took annual wine trips with her husband, and preferred sunning on the beach. One of her favorite things to do with her husband is to stay up late binge-watching episodes of historical fiction series such as The Tudors, The Red Queen, and other dramas about medieval European power families. She spent her last years traveling as much as possible with trips to NY, San Francisco, Florida, Mexico, and Europe with her family. Joni is survived by her husband Chuck, son Axel, stepdaughters Kylee, India, and Madison, her brother Bob, his wife Denise and their daughters Ashley and Alyssa, all of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her mother in law Barbara Martens and her husband Stan of Westminster, Colorado; sisters in law Annie Moon of Orlando, Florida and Katie Martens of Westminster, Colorado; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Rich and JoAnn. A memorial reception celebrating Joni’s life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel and Reception Center located at 5303 E. County Line Rd.
