Jordis M. Walther

February 27, 1940 — March 16, 2011

Jordis Walther was born in 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jordy grew up in Milwaukee and enjoyed summers going to camp and waterskiing on Booth Lake with her three brothers Dennis, Miles and Roger. She attended Northwestern University in Chicago and graduated with a degree in education. While at Northwestern University, she met Don Walther, her husband of fifty years. They settled in Winnetka, where she taught first grade. While there, they had their first child, Guy. Subsequently, they moved to Janesville, Wisconsin and had two more children, Shelly and David. At this point, with her hands full with three children, Jordy became a fulltime homemaker. In 1970, Jordy and her family moved to Littleton, Colorado for a life of adventure out west. Jordy was very devoted to her family and spent her time raising her children and taking care of her husband. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge and bowling. After her children graduated from high school, Jordy went to work for J.C. Penney, where she worked in the finance department. She retired fifteen years later. Upon retirement, Jordy loved spending time with her five grandchildren Tyler, Max, Zia, Grace, and Miles. She was known for her wisdom, compassion and great sense of humor. She made a difference in many lives and will be missed. Jordy is survived by her husband Donald Walther; children Guy Walther, Shelly Vermillion and David Walther; and grandchildren Tyler Vermillion, Maxwell Vermillion, Zia Walther, Grace Walther and Miles Walther. Memorial Service to be held Friday, March 25, 2011, 11:00 A.M., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado.
