JOSE ANDRONICO GARCIA August 15, 1936 â January 17, 2013 Jose ""Joe"" Garcia passed away peacefully at his home on January 17, 2013 after a long illness. He was born to Jose and Eutilia Garcia of Malta, Colorado on August 15, 1936. Joe grew up in Malta/Leadville , Colorado and in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico. Joe was a strong, proud and honourable man. He touched the lives of many people, family and friends â to know Joe was to love him. His love and humour and empathy as he made his way through life will be treasured and remembered. He enlisted in the Air Force in Leadville, Colorado in November of 1953 at the age of 17. He served in the United States, England, Greenland and the Philippines before retiring on March 1, 1974. From the Air Force, Joe worked at The Rocky Mountain Arsenal destroying chemical weapons; from there, Joe went to work for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, retiring from the Post Office in July of 2000 after more than 45 years of service to the Government of the United States. Joe met and married his wife Lynne in England in November of 1968. His greatest pleasure in life was his family, both near and far. He loved Colorado, the mountains, the streams, and the annual 3-day Family Reunion, especially if held at Half Moon Campground near Leadville. He enjoyed watching the families grow, talking and eating around the fireplace â he was always the first one up lighting the fire and starting the coffee pot. Jose Andronico Garcia is survived by Lynne, his wife of 44 years; sons, Marcos Garcia, Ricardo Garcia, Michael (Vicki) Warren, Reymon (Laura) Garcia and Alex (Elizabeth) Garcia, daughters, Leila (Tony) Rea and Sarita Garcia; brother, Daniel (Edna) Garcia, sisters, Theresa Duarte, Dora (Vince) Medina, Angie (Lamar) McCullough; his aunt, Ruth Martinez and many cousins. He was proud to be the grandfather of 13 grandchildren and the great grandfather of 5 great grandchildren; uncle and great uncle to many well-loved nieces and nephews. Funeral Service on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at The Potter's House Church of Denver, 9495 E. Florida Avenue, Denver CO 80247; Interment at 12:15 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area C; refreshments following Interment.
